So, this year I started something new in my classroom.... "What's on the Art Menu?" I turned one of the bulletin boards into a resource for students. The three classes I teach are listed on the left and below each title is the lesson they are currently working on. I also include student samples, handouts, key vocabulary, handouts, copies of powerpoints and notes. I find that students really use it a lot. They check to see what they have missed when they are absent or to see what is coming next. Perhaps the most surprising thing I noticed is how the Drawing & Painting I students look to the Drawing II class to see what they could be doing if they stick with it. It's kind of like looking at menu, the appetizer, main course and dessert.
"The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world."
