Even though today was a snow day and school was closed there was no stopping the NJ State YAM Exhibit at the Trenton State House Annex. The exhibit included work from each county in NJ and was organized by the Art Educators of NJ. The artwork ranged from kindergarten to high school and showcased a wide range of media. As soon as I entered the building I was greeted with the large sign you see above. Anyone entering the building or passing through would be impressed by the time, energy and effort of the AENJ members who made this all possible. But even more importantly visitors would find it impossible to not stop and think about the importance of art in our schools.
I was so excited to see my student, Tiara, and her family at the Artist Reception today despite the cold weather and snow. It was wonderful to see students being recognized for their accomplishments in the visual arts while being honored among their peers. Congrats to all the students and special thanks to the AENJ and their sponsors for making this possible!
