Happy New Year and welcome back! Here in the northeast we are just coming back from the holiday break and a snow storm, capped off by a deep freeze. We are in the middle of our first full week back and I am happy to say we are onto some new projects.
Drawing & Painting I just started their POP Art printmaking unit with an introduction to Andy Warhol and all things Pop Art. We are planning out our linoleum designs and will be carving next week.
Drawing & Painting II is working on blind contour drawings. After getting the initial giggles out, we were able to complete a series of portrait drawings that will be used for a final drawing. We made great progress this week adjusting our line quality and truly observing.
AP Drawing is on their last Breadth Assignment. It is hard to believe we will be done in just 3 short months. We are just a week away from our midway concentration critique. Keep an eye out for that post. It is one of my most favorite activities of the year and my students always wow me with their insight.
"The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world."
