Drawing & Painting II are working on their first big projects of the year. After exploring dadaism and surrealism and looking at the world events that influenced the development of these styles students used contour lines to draw their hands from observation. Juxtaposing their hands with insects they created creepy crawly compositions using overlap, rotated objects, a focal point and off centering to maximize the space and balance in the work. Today students started with markers and are using complementary colors and a monochromatic color scheme to organize the elements within the work.
"The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world."
