Learning to draw what you see and not what you think is a big part of learning to draw from observation. Drawing & Painting I students are making their first attempts at drawing shoes. For many students this can be very stressful because they can tell if it doesn't look right but they don't quite know how to fix it. I demonstrated some techniques for starting their shoes and what to look for when they are drawing. We focus on the laces, interior shapes and giving parts of the shoe thickness. We looked at common mistakes student make when they first start out. We also stressed the use of contour line and line quality. Overall, it was a great first start. Next class we will transfer our line drawings to good paper and start to explore value.
"The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world."
