After lunch, we went back into the studio to continue with the narrative theme. Philemona brougt in some of her own still life objects, like dolls, toys, and fabric, among other things, to use as inspiration. It was so neat that she shared these personal items with us and allowed us to make our own connections. Since I have always loved still life and the narrative still life, this was right up my alley. I chose a pink, tattered baby dress on a hanger. I was drawn to the way the dress was hanging off to one side. After mixing just the primary colors (my students should appreciate this) I created a painting inspired by the dress, paper dolls and the dress stitching.
Overall, it was a really great day and I look forward to next years event.
