This week I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the annual AENJ Conference. Each year art teachers from all around NJ get together to listen to inspirational speakers, participate in hands on workshops, and share best practices. Not only did I get to do all of those awesome things but I was also a presenter. Ms. Lentini-Pombrio and I presented a hands on workshop on using data as inspiration for creating art. We looked at 3 contemporary artists and had participants create different projects that they could use with their students or could be modified to each grade level. It was great to see how easily each teacher found a way to incorporate some of the techniques and concepts into already established school goals and initiatives. Special shout out to the AENJ officers and members for making this professional development opportunity possible.
"The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world."
