As part of our school wide initiative, The Junior Quest and Senior Project, my students created a journal page in which they considered what comes next. Some students thought about college while others considered their careers. They used a variety of media to explore the concept while incorporating the simple shape of a figure using positive and negative space.
Drawing & Painting I students have just finished up two watercolor projects. Student began with an abstract watercolor that let them explore different watercolor techniques. Then they worked on their watercolor trees. They learned to used a resist technique to create the tree shapes and used their newly learned watercolor techniques to complete the negative space. Each one has its own feel and mood. Check out the rest on the on-line class galleries.
"The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world."
