AP students just finished these amazing trompe l'oiel mixed media still life drawings...yes they are drawings! Trompe l'oeil is a french term meaning trick of the eye. Trompe l'oeil paintings have a rich history that spans decades and can are often done today as modern side walk drawings (you often see on the internet) Students used the clipboard as a base for building their still life. They cut, clipped, and layered real objects on to a real clip board and used it as reference to create their drawing. Each clipboard has a theme. For instance, one is about a student's grandmother and another is about beauty. Each student made choices about which medium to use and when. These are currently on display in the G-Wing showcase.
"The arts celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world."
