Sometimes a blank page in a journal can be just too intimidating. So, why not try and start on a page that already has something on it. Students used pages from an old book (great way to recycle) and created found word poems. After circling the words they then began to visually block out the rest of the page. Some students used colors and patterns, while others took the opportunity to draw an image.
